I think something a lot of people don't understand or at least don't talk about is that psychiatry is a business. The reason why a lot of people don't receive the right kinds of treatment is because there is no profit in it.
Psychiatrists/social workers make a lot more money waiting for people that may need help to hit rock bottom and then putting them through their system thereby creating more jobs etc.
