Yes, we all hate the psych hospitals but where do you have your loved one go when he is in a psychotic/manic state where he could be safe from himself? He has no judgement or control over his impulses which could land him in jail if I'm not constantly on top of him and I can't do that 24/7 as I need to sleep even though he doesn't.

I want a place that he cannot escape but that will treat him compassionately. And yes, while in a state like this, he needs the meds until he gets out of it then they can be eliminated.

Any ideas? I would take him out of the country if I have to. My 20 yr old son goes in and out of these states. He has neuropsych Lyme Disease and psych hospitals don't treat him for it when he's there. Any ideas???

It is one thing to complain about these hospitals, but we need alternatives. He is in AZ right now.
